I have the whole run downloaded thru a torrent and will probably watch a couple episodes in just a bit here. grabbed the torrent 3yrs ago and threw it on my one movie/shows backup drive and never got around to it. oddly enough I watch more 1930s-50s movies/serials than I do modern stuff. wew the ladies of that era. They were all good. Hollywood has always struggled to market non-political/non-woke black comedy and drama. The stereotype whites see of the black man and that black men see of themselves aren't the same image, so a lot of that stuff will land with blacks and even some racist whites, but the mainstream white liberal audience won't go for it.

Best example I can give is Harlem Nights. Great film, most white people hated it. Chock full of really deep scenes that make no sense if you're a middle class white person with a idealistic view of black people.
