In MMA you call some a pure ___ when they are highly specialized in one thing. Striking, grappling etc. Usually in the context of fighting someone with a different skill set. So a boxer vs. a Dagestani wrestler would be a pure striker vs a pure grappler.
When they say it about Taker it almost sounds like a rib in that sense, that he can’t do anything but throw punches. Kind of like when JR would imply Austin was the shits as a wrestler but still put him over. Or when you hear an announcer say
