Realistically, how long can they put off putting the title on Cody? People said that him losing at Mania would hurt his popularity, but it really hasn't.

He's done if it isn't WM40. Once I cooled off from the WM39 decision, I realized that another year would work. He can't go beyond Mania 40 though. He's essentially been spinning his wheels all year, never challenged for the consolation prize.

This is somewhat correct, he will have a period of being 'the face that runs the place' and then they'll have to keep an eye on his reactions and turn him at the right moment, but chasing the title definitely gives him more steam than being the champ would have

Regardless, he does have to win the title and eith everybody feeling that he's gonna do it at mania, it keeps him popular
