Some times normal people just get completely fed up with shit because it is bad for them, bad for their communities, and just bad over all. Humanity isn't a bunch of NPCs where if you hit a stat check they will switch to your way of thinking. They are real people with their own thoughts and motivations. No matter how secure you think your position is, if you start advocating for shit that is going to hurt them or the people they love they are going to oppose you and want to hurt you. A lot of people like you cope and call that reactionary, normal people call that sane.
I consider myself completely apolitical, but since my daughter was born I have full stopped giving a shit about trans rights because the right of a dude to tinkle in the ladies room does not matter to me whenever I see a headline about a troon raping a kid in the bathroom. I may have some ideals, but they do not matter at all in the face of how much I love and want to protect my daughter. If the laws changed tomorrow that would legalize hurting her I would start killing every politician and apologist for those policies with no regard to my health.
That is reality. Make believe games of intellectual rules stop mattering when it comes to my blood.
