But then I listened to the original and that's a giant full soldout stadium's worth of reverb.
And the bass did sound dodgy, but from what I've learned of bass mixing, apparently most sound engineers have absolutely no concept of mixing bass guitar.
It's at the point where if the bass player doesn't show up with a Fender Precision bass, he's sent home because the engineer doesn't know how to mix anything other than that flat dull low output mid-ish tone.
That's what the session players say anyway.
So it would make sense for the bass sound in this mix to be practically nonexistent.
At least when Metallica did that on AJFA, it was out of spite, grief and sorrow.
This is out of incompetence.
Having said that...
A shitty dry reverbless quiet mix without too much going on would be perfect in an arena PA setting, like the WWE runs.
The reverb will come from the venue, and the commentary can talk over everything without the music distracting the audience.
