Both were very smooth and very good workers when the WWF brought them in, mostly due to their experience in the AWA. Of course Shawn improved and reached another level after the split, while Marty flamed out within a few years due to a combination of legal troubles and drug abuse. But at one time, Marty and Shawn were peers. You can't really say that about Bret and Jim, at least not by the time they arrived in WWF.
