>>12413737Cody's booking of himself was strange but you can tell the angles that had an old-school feeling came from him. I never thought Cody left because of Phil, rather because he knew AEW was going to fail by following indy booking. Punk saw this as well after Brawl Out because he saw people who wanted to "ironically" wrestle and shit like that only works in the indies. It doesn't work when you have National Television and actually have to draw money. There's a reason he tried to get out that following December and he visited WWE some time early this ytear. He realized that even if he disagreed with guys like Vince or HHH, they kind of had a point and took it seriously.
AEW isn't even like WCW, because at least the inmates who ran that in the ground had some huge success and experience. These are guys (other than mayber Jericho, Christian and Edge who are just collecting money mark checks) who never really made it anywhere. Kenny got a big head from Gedo's booking, but that's why he's underwhelming here but a big deal in Japan. Gedo was the one that told him to cut that comedy shit out and to take "The Cleaner" more seriously. The moment Kenny won the belt in NJPW, Kenny knew he was leaving so Gedo let him be, and look at how bad that reign turned out to be.
