>Echads, does this apply to us? Popularity does not equal quality: Just because something is popular, it does not mean that it is objectively good or valuable. Popularity can be influenced by many factors, such as marketing, media exposure, social trends, peer pressure, etc. Sometimes, popular things are designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator, or to exploit people’s emotions, biases, or desires. They may not have much artistic merit, originality, or depth. For example, some critics argue that popular music is often formulaic, repetitive, and superficial

that’s true but aewtists applying this logic is hilarious since gayew is the burger king to wwe’s mcdonalds. which flavor of slop do you want? they’re both shit but one is second rate.

in a lot of genres yes, popularity doesn't equal quality but in the topsy turvey world of wrestling the opposite is generally true, because its the same people watching the product week in and week out of they dont like what they see, they watch a different wrestling show

>>12421644 Thing is though, there's just such a stark contrast in the styles of product that less popular companies put out and there is practically nothing else like the WWE. Take for example music, if you like modern trap rap and think the most popular rappers out now are trash you could always boot up soundcloud/youtube and find someone doing the same style of shit but with more substance if that's what you were looking for. If you applied the current state of the wrestling world to music it would be like if WWE is a band which uses normal instruments whereas literally everyone else is banging stones together in rhythm or some shit. I'm not trying to say WWE is so infinitely better as I understand it's just personal preference for the most part but like I said there just isn't anything similar available and as the sports entertainment style really has wide appeal it's obvious those people will only like the E. TNA was a good alternative back then and I genuinely enjoyed that too
