It was 2 major things, the terrible Invasion angle that soured the good faith built up for many a fan.

And 2nd, Brock Lesnar leaving who was built and positioned as the next ace of the company and being replaced with JBL.

I missed the AE but I'm kinda glad I did.
The more wrestling focused RA era Smackdown eventually made me someone who found appreciation primarily in the in ring. Wound up expanding my interest to TNA then ROH and eventually my immersion and focus towards Puro.

2008-2012 was so incredibly shit that Carder and an old Shawn Michaels were the most entertaining to watch wrestlers in the ring during that time. I know we all make fun of Carder but he deserves credit for putting on some of the best matches during that time.
