no its the cornbuckle post trust me its bigger than the edge of the apron and it has to support the tension of the ropes and stay in place when the wrestlers are moving around in it

You don't know what you're talking about. It's cornbuckle, and it holds the robes in the posts and it's not a ring since it's not a circle, it's a cube in fact. Oh, and the sides of the cube are called side-banners. You could of lurk more, but you had to post to try and feel like you know something.
