>"I'll tell you what though, to me, and Max did a fantastic interview, but the star of the show was Christian Cage. That thing was so frickin' great. Edge too, I mean, Adam Copeland. I thought that segment, I thought that segment was so great. I couldn't even, y'know, Christian, Christian Cage should be the Actor of the Year. We don't have that category, but my God, he is, he's like, when it just comes to being whatever that is that he is, man, he's on another level."

I didn't realize before that so little people listened to Meltzer. It's crazy how much influence he has over modern wrestling considering. I wonder if wrestling would be better if he didnt exist

>>12491782 After more than 40 years of constant hustling the Wrestling Observer is grandfathered in and essentially treated as 'old media' today. The number of local newspapers, sportstalk radio stations and TV newsrooms (on top of all of the online outfits going today) that mass subscribe to everything getting published in the sports media landscape - only to write it all off as a business expense - is in the thousands. When I worked at WMMS - a rock station in cleveland - I always had free access to the Observer because some random employee signed up to it years before and there was no reason to ever cut it off. The fans that subscribe are only a portion of their revenue. In fact, depending on how you view those tax write-offs you could say Bryan and Dave make a hefty sum of money every month off the backs of the American taxpayer.

>>12492201 I should add, there's a reason Dave Meltzer always loves to tout Frank Deford: Once he got that guy's endorsement he was pretty much set for life.
Also, sometimes Meltzer will mention random politicians and other public figures that subscribe to his newsletter and it's a similar situation. It's not that John McCain was actually reading the Wrestling Observer every week, but someone working in his office that decided to tack on the subscription to get out of paying for it himself.

He's an old wigger with a droning voice who adds absolutely nothing to any show he's on. There's a reason his run replacing Bryan as co-host with Dave on WOR was so short lived.
