To put it another way, there's a reason Dusty was denied the WWF heavyweight championship. He said no to the proposition.
Same reason he didn't do much business around Grizzly Smith and similar guys.
Some talent, you hear about them all the time because they weren't like that.
Even Jake Roberts was clean compared to the guys who were exactly like that or worse.
Roddy had to go through that shit on the receiving end of the play.
The Pit got him over. He would've been discarded as nothing but a pretty toy if it didn't work.
