>>12535460Wrestling games in the late 90s were fun because you could fight as Steve Austin, the Rock, Undertaker, etc. The guys you were cheering on every Monday and every PPV you bought, you could fight as.
How many people were cheering them on? Couple milly. 5 milly? Something like that. More as the 90s rolled into the new millennium.
That's a shitload of potential customers.
Now let's take a look at AEW.
They never drew 2 milly.
They haven't drawn a single milly in 40 weeks? Some segments did, but those guys left and the average came down to keep the streak going.
The potential customer base is way, way smaller.
Now let's look at the videogame market.
How many fighting games are available for the consoles and PC?
Tekken, Dead or Alive, Street Fighter, Marvel vs Capcom, Mortal Kombat, Dragon Ball Z, these are just the franchises I know from the top of my head and they've all peaked in player count in the last 4 years compared with all the years prior.
The fighting game market is hot, but completely full with products that people already play.
The WWE is part of this too.
AEW is the new kid on the block with a brand new game from grand old developers who were fired for being shit at making games.
The people who know their fighting games don't look at wrestling games as serious fighters.
They only buy the wrestling games so they can fight as guys they like.
That brings us back to the potential customer base issue.
Are there any guys who people wanna cheer in AEW?
Are there any guys who draw in AEW?
Cody and Punk did. They left.
MJF used to, but babyface MJF is like lesbian Hitler, that shit just doesn't work. He was already turning antidimes by the time Fuck Forever was released.
So in summary, the bottom line is this: Fight Forever's a failure because there's no reason to play it and no customer base to sell it to.
