People desperately wanted an alternative to WWE, which was understandable in 2019 and during the pandemic, and so they were willing to overlook AEW's flaws. They were willing to make excuses, say "they're young, they're still learning." People gave them way too much slack, and now that WWE has gotten its act together, AEW looks even worse in comparison.
And by the way, NXT was the better show throughout the entire Wednesday night war period.
