Dr Death was in his 40s when he was trying to do this shit. And untrained in everything but amateur wrestling.

It's no mystery why he failed, or even why he lost in the Brawl For All. He shouldn't have ever participated.
If he had trained for MMA properly and utilized modern MMA knowledge, with the pre-eminence of wrestling and ground and pound, Dr Death probably would've done as well as Lesnar... you know, if he wasn't old and washed by then physically.

Great pro wrestler though, one of the all time greats

Dr Death is what happens when the big fish in a small pond moves to a bigger pond.
He might've been great at taking a hit and beating up drunks and moody wrestlers that got momentarily pissed and gave him a stiff hit or shot on him but when it came time to go up against someone that wanted to fight back he got his shit pushed in.

there is not a single successful boxer or mma fighter that started training/fighting in their 40s
and George Foreman's feat of coming back and winning the heavyweight title in his 40s is considered a near superhuman feat for a reason. And he was a former world champ.

Dr Death was much better suited to working a harder hitting style in Japan. I have no idea what kind of match he'd have with 98 Austin. You think Austin's taking a Backdrop Driver with his broken neck? Or even a brainbuster, hell. He'd probably take a Doctor Bomb though (which is a cool based move)
