>>12555453Tony insists on doing things "his" way, even though for 4+ years, we've seen "his" way doesn't work. The times they've drawn a million, or 3/4-filled Wembley, etc, are the natural result of raising payroll by 10-20+ million by adding more free agents. It's like if the Angels or Giants signed 2-3 free agents to 25 million per year deals, of course fans are going to tune in hoping this is the year they turn it around. But then it's just more of the same.
Long TV matches are not a draw. They're just not. They don't go viral, they don't sell shirts, they don't sell video games, they don't make celebrities want to do appearances, they don't do any of that. It's just mark-service for the fans who, ironically, do everything but spend money -- VPNs, trading tapes on discord/torrent, bootleg merch, and so on
You need families to show up. You need groups of 4, 6, 8+ college students to show up. You don't get that by killing the crowd with 20 minute heatless matches. Need more participatory theme songs (Demon Finn, Jey Uso, Cody, Jericho, etc), more backstage interaction, more entertainment in general.
Or....keep sinking further and further, while paying more and more money. Just brutal shit, it's like Tony would rather lose money than prove Vince, Corny, Disco/Konnan and all the others are right.
