Moxley is a shitter who I shoot hate but he won this match pretty clearly. His takedown was the only points-earning action of the entire thing, and then he controlled the rest of the match on top, never being in any real danger from the other dude's attempted sweeps and submissions.
The dude said in the comments on this video that he won due to "reversal points, plus sub attempt". On top of reversal points being a stupid rule to begin with, since reversals don't necessarily result in gaining dominant positions and thus shouldn't be rewarded as such, he never successfully pulled off any sort of reversal anyways. I guess he and the ref thought his shitty ashi garami from guard with that weak ankle lock attempt counted as him coming up on top, but literally no other organisation counts that because it's literally just gluing yourself to your opponent's leg and trying to brute-force a submission, which is literally the opposite of advancing your position as 'coming up on top' requires.
And if we're also awarding points or advantages for sub attempts, the dude's one ankle lock didn't look at all dangerous. The dude was 100% just your average white belt shitter who settles for ankle locks because they know they can't possible pull off a sweep, takedown, back take, or guard pass, so they try to lock their opponent in place and then squeeze their leg as hard as they can without actually having any of the finishing mechanics down.
I went into this hoping to laugh at how shit Moxley's bjj skills are, but now I've ended up defending him over a blatant robbery. Fuck this. Idiot should've imposed his will harder.
