Orton doing the RKO protects their head.
He's dampening the impact and limiting the potential risks by doing an RKO.
Commentary sells it. The audience pops for the dive, not the head protection. But because commentary sold it as "RKO OUTTA NOWHERE" for almost 2 decades now, the crowd reacts to it the same way as well, like Pavlovian dogs.

It's the same as when DDP did cutters on guys who were already diving headlong for the mat.

I've taken to calling them the so-so's.
They've got the smile and the promo for a sizeable demographic, and yes they're athletic, but their moves never look strong or definitive.
I always get left with the feeling they just brushed a guy with feathers whenever they throw moves at their opponents.

He's driving them down on their face by their necks. Catching people by the neck like that and accelerating their descent is gonna hurt. Think of it as lowering your leg to the floor and then someone grabs you by the knee and smashes your foot down.

The Pedigree counter has no excuse. Looks like shit and doesn't even look like a fucking Pedigree, looks more like Seth botched a leapfrog than an actual move
