Liberal """men""" love them for a variety of reasons, often times it's bad parenting, or a lack of test (CM Punk's skinnyfat figure suggests he's very low T), or mental illness. In Punk's case I think it gives him an outlet for his anger: there are people who don't want tranny men sharing a bathroom with their little daughters at school, so that gives Punk someone to get really angery at, especially because he feels like he's protecting the oppressed mentally ill pedophile trannies.
It also provides Punk cover for a lot of bad shit he's likely done behind the scenes that we do, and don't, know about.
