How does doing handsprings, cartwheels, and topes tell a story?

AEW matches have no psychology to them. They are gymnastics demonstrations at best.

Go back and watch some classic territory matches to see how you tell a story in the ring. Watch a Dusty Rhodes match then watch an Orange Cassidy match and you'll see why what AEW isn't telling a story.

Take for example the Austin vs Vince story which is possibly the most popular wrestling storyline ever, there is no way in hell you could've ever substituted something as funny and engaging as that was with a few matches.

You need a storyline outside of the match to connect that storyline to the match itself, through promos and segments where the wrestlers literally tell you the story. Matches are the end of the story or the continuation of one, it can't be a story itself because wrestling matches are too basic to tell a genuine story.

A story has a beginning, a middle and an end. Wrestling stories are the entire company in an ongoing story with all the characters have arcs. AEW just jumps into the middle of a pretend story saying it started 15 years ago in Denmark and then they have the same match as always that's just false finishes and dives and then there is no follow up or conclusion to any of it.
So no, they have no stories. They almost had a Punk and MJF one with Wardlow, and a Punk/Starks one too, but they didn't conclude either.

A wrestling match should be a chapter in the the stories of each participating character and whatever overarching story they are in as well as the larger story of the TV show/company as a whole. Every match should be like that. AEW almost never achieves that.
If you watch wrestling and don't understand that they are playing a character and continuing stories via wrestling matches then you might be shoot retarded because that's literally what wrestling is, but the person in the OP is more retarded because they are pretending to understand it and failing.
