As funny as it would be, it probably won't be WBD for two reasons:
1. Zaslav is publicly playing hardball with NBA rights negotiations, saying he doesn't want to lease content, he wants to own it. WWE would be in the same boat. He has been such a cheapskate for the last two years, I can't see him opening his wallet for anyone, let alone WWE.
There's an outside chance WBD is keeping WWE on the backburner in case they do lose NBA rights, but what's more realistic is:
2. WBD has some kind of minority ownership investment in AEW. Zaslav's WBD is more content to own the cheap version of a wrestling show (AEW) than lease the expensive version of a wrestling show (WWE)
They have all the leverage in the AEW rights negotiation, Tony Khan is not going to get a better deal than them and they know it. They can afford it to keep around and use it to plug holes in their schedule
