It was demonstrably unpopular the first time around, so why would anyone pay to see it again? I could see Corgan buying AEW just for the rings and lights etc. I guess NJPW might have a look, if they wanted to make another attempt at cracking the U.S. They already have a streaming service they could dump it on to as well.

Yeah the more I think about it, NJPW makes the most sense as a buyer. Tony could spin that as a strategic decision. They could release the entire roster, use people on per appearance deals and just run AEW as the super-indy it always should have been. Keep the Forbidden Door concept going once or twice a year as well.

It's not, it's retarded, we know there are many guys on deals that are "here's a signing bonus, we'll book you for X dates and pay you for them, whenever they happen" which is tier 0 and their "guy we think might be good but is unproven" was like 75-100k last time anything was talked about it, which would be 1 or 2. And there are (were) tier 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and Jericho. Obviously shit has changed, but a lot of the lower rung guys in AEW are not getting big paydays, and you'd need a fair few fat contracts at the top to drag the average to 400k

Go look at the AEW roster and tell me that there aren't a ton of bloat that are probably happy for any pay cheque and will drag the averages down pretty hard.

That assumes that Tony has been making sensible offers to the bigger names. Matt Hardy, who can barely walk, has said he's being paid more in AEW than he's earned anywhere else in his career. There is a ton of bloat in the AEW roster, but it needs someone who isn't a total mark to take charge.

Anyone who had legit interest from WWE will have a great deal, which causes wage inflation in the others - as you said, MJF allegedly complained at being comparatively unpaid, so his price will have gone up a lot. We all know that AEW isn't making money, and it shouldn't this early on going by the average of new companies at this size, but the issue is that they bloated everything so fast that there is no path to profits since they are stuck with a huge roster, huge crew, and 3 shows (Dynamite, Collision, RoH) that they have to book venues for and produce but lose money on unless business drastically picks up but they have no plan as far as how to do so. This is not even considering the tens of millions lost on the game and how they are STILL paying Yukes despite it being dead with no chance for revival

WWE provides air travel for free and hotels/travel if they are on tour.
No wrestling company pays for full travel and lodgings except Tony the mark.
