Pokémon was a game which was so popular it spun off more games, animes, movies, mangas, card games, cafes, massive merchandising empires etc etc
Digimon started as a tamagotchi for boys that spun off into anime series, movies, games, etc etc
Yugioh was a manga that got popular so the publishers requested it become about a card game because it featured a made up version of MTG in one chapter. The card game did well and still does ok. It spun off anime series and video games but is far less successful an IP as the monster collection ones.
There are plenty more like Monster Rancher, Yokai watch and so on. Yugioh was not the same genre as Pokémon - Pokémon is a game and pseudo sports fiction series. Yugioh is one of many card game series, there are loads of them - mostly owned by Bushiroad, who own New Japan. Yugioh is a shounen jump series so it's from the same magazine as Naruto, Dragon Ball, One Piece etc. It was a manga first.
