at what point does nitro "get good"?
should I watch every episode to follow the monday night wars as they happen or should I just stick to the WCW PPV's until the outsiders/nwo stuff starts?

okay, another question, for the Monday night wars. is it best to watch it week by week or maybe binge each side a month at a time?
for example 1 month WWF then 1 month WWE so I watch like January for both sides

Yeah but the filler is like Regal beefing with Prince Iaukea, Syxx beefing with Eddie, Mongo with Jarrett, Benoit with Sullivan, and the tag division. With random filler matches involving people like Alex Wright. So it's all pretty good.

Week to week. Some of the shots taken in promos and on commentary might not make sense a month apart. Plus shows one-upping after something gets over the week before.

side by side. watch week 1's nitro and week 1's raw than move to week 2 and so on than ppv. as the one anon said there's things that go on that connect and watching 4 nitro than 4 raw means you'll miss it

I watched from the start of nitro (September 1995-Starcade 97 (December 1997). The Hogan/Dungeon of Doom shit is retard kino and some of the stuff with Pillman joining the Horsemen is good. The Flair/Savage stuff is also good and seeing the Giant come up is pretty cool too. 1998 isn't bad. Its just not as good as WCW in 1996 and 1997.

Watch a couple of the early ones and then skip October 95 to April 96. Watch from May 96 until the go home show of Starrcade 97 in December.

After that watch Starrcade until the bell rings on Sting and Hogan.

DO NOT WATCH THAT MATCH.

Watch the kino Sting entrance with Hogan transposed. Then shut it off. You can watch the next night Nitro, but I suggest you don't, and you just end there.

There is some cool Goldberg and DDP stuff in 98' but I wouldn't bother watching the rest of the show.

wrestling isn't meant to be rewatched from start to finish. it's not a movie or regular tv show. it's more like going back and watching an old game of hockey, baseball, football or any other sport.
there's never been a ppv or tv episode of wrestling that is completely great from beginning to end.
there's always going to be some filler or a bad match or a bad promo or something boring or uninteresting at some point during the show.

97 and 98 is good just fast forward the filler. it was intended as a live broadcast and later transitioned to 3 hours so there is no harm in fast forwarding to the meat of the show. they didn't think people would be watching it on demand 25 years later with no commercials or whatever

exactly. these shows were always meant to be disposable junk entertainment like soap operas and the news. it's crazy that some of the old promoters got criticized for taping over the shows to save money and not keeping tapes of every show. they had no idea people would be so bored with their lives and the current state of pro wrestling in the future that there would be any interest in watching all this old shit again.

look at Wrestling Before Nitro and Wrestling After Nitro and it becomes glaringly obvious.
