Also a MAJOR difference was you had Hulk Hogan and Savage going to WCW to give it legitimacy. CM Punk is nowhere near the stratosphere that Hulk was back then.
A "ratings war" makes absolutely zero sense when the entire wrestling audience is like 1.5 million people worldwide. Football has around 18 million regular viewers and XFL still failed. There is not even close to being a large enough wrestling audience for multiple companies to be functioning simultaneously.
AND... even with the MASSIVE star power that WCW had (that AEW doesn't come close to having) they only lasted about 6 years. Seeing a pattern here??
