he was introduced with the assumption that viewers knew who he was but no one actually watches NJPW and it showed. then he had some ok matches and one good tag match and then disappeared for a month for personal reasons. then he came back and was put in a lrogram with the champion. all this despite not being particularly good at anything. just terrible booking all around.

I don't think this helped his cause at all. Not that he sucked in Impact but that he even went there. He was such a soft launch AEW debut too. He would pop up one week then disappear for months it seemed. So there was never any real excitement even around him coming in. Can't really say he's been booked terribly. He just had a ppv title match main event feud. Like plenty are saying there's just nothing particularly special about him

He was just booked in the last ppv's main event for the title. He's on tv every week. He's getting plenty of opportunities bookingwise. It's not like it's WWE where his hands may be tied with bad creative either. He just isn't a star. Someone mentioned Balor in this thread. That's about who he's on par with. Good in the midcard. Could squeeze him into the upper midcard if needed. But no way in hell should this guy ever main event a Wrestlemania or AEW's equivalent

That doesn't negate the fact that he was placed in a ppv main event title story and is given tv time every week. If he had a problem with the finish that was on him to speak up on. Seeing as it went the way it did we can only assume he had no issues with it
