Wrestling matches are pretty boring after you've seen a few thousand of them. The only good bits are the character work.

if all you've ever seen is modern wrestling that focuses on getting from spot A to spot B you might not understand this

Nah, I've seen thousands of classic wrestling matches and those are still just getting from spot a to spot b with the same generic "character work" in between I don't care about anymore. I mean original and unique character work, not the heel jumping out of the ring and waving off the face while pretending to have had enough.
