>>12666861Rebuild the dam of legitimacy.
I'm not talking about pretending kayfabe is real again.
I'm talking about having more guys like Brock Lesnar and more guys like CM Punk.
Legitimate fighters. Legitimate wrestlers.
Bring a bunch of NCAA guys in.
Bring a bunch of Olympic wrestlers in and have them be themselves instead of some fucking character.
Back in the day, gimmicks were used to make up for charisma and some flaws. They put managers together with guys who couldn't cut a promo to save their life but were amazing in the ring.
When's the last time a WWE guy shows up with a manager? When's the last time they hired someone who can't talk but can break your neck blindfolded?
Brock, Punk and Cody are the only three legitimate guys in the WWE in 25 years of developing new talent.
That's where it went wrong. Everyone's a phoney gimmick these days.
Brings me to a second problem.
Nobody dares to be himself anymore, let alone exaggerate it.
If someone showed up talking like Steve Austin in 1975, it's a normal dude. 1985 the same.
If he showed up when Austin did, he's a superstar.
If he showed up in 2005, he's a naughty potty mouth.
If he showed up in 2015, he'd get suspended for talking like a rude racist sexist inbred redneck.
If he shows up today, his family gets lynched by a mob of rabid social media enthusiasts who have no life.
It's not just the vision of wrestling that has gone foggy.
The audience is pure fucking unadulterated shit.
