Actually, IMO that is preferable. The biggest match feels IMO where back when Shawn and Hogan would only wrestle on PPV's. It created this big match PPV feel akin to what you have in boxing or a fight between two mainstream stars in the UFC. The most classic case for that IMO would be always the Hogan vs Sting rivalry. A 1 year build up, no matchess in-between until they finally met at Starcade

The problem with Reigns is that he doesn't fucking appear on most shows to make any feuds or progress storylines. Hogan and Michaels would wrestle twice per year in 1997, but they were on every show doing segments to compensate.

That is a good point. The number of matches doesn't matter so much. It's the fact that he doesn't even make appearances most of the time anymore. He used to only wrestle on the PPVs but he'd still be on every episode of SmackDown.

This may be the only realistic option left, cuz LA Knight has no real place in claiming it, Sami's pretty much done, no idea why Jey isn't going after it, but Cody's been pretty consistent in presence and parallels at least. I think the writers are realizing they're starting to write themselves into a corner and are really trying to figure it out while other storylines take precedence. It's not a bad idea, but the perfect time to end it was with Sami. Now they gotta fuck around and think of another build up.

Brock Lesnar won the top title in combat spots. After that, him being a part timer and an "attraction" like Andre wasn't a bad idea in design. But it only works for someone who is a monster, who is booked like a force of nature, who physically dominates, typically puts someone OVER (this is crucial) and then leaves.

Again, Roman is part-timing with the top title and not putting anyone over. His entire heel run has put no one over. It's uncertain when this reign will in and who it will actually put over, and if it will even do anything for that person when it happens. It looks like they're trying to erase Hogan from the record books which means he holds the belt THROUGH Wrestlemania yet again.

And you're okay with this?
How can any fan be okay with this jabroni wrestling 7 matches a year with the top belts? He's not Lesnar, no fucking way.

I'm not sure what's the deal with Roman, but I think the fact that he already wrestled basically everyone in the main event scene during this run makes it hard to find opponents for him. They had to use Logan Paul at one point. Also, the fact that he is over with fans, and being flanked by Paul Heyman makes him a believable champion even if he doesn't work much.

Romans reign is "a thing", a plot, a background story, a macguffin,..
it's just a thing on the background and his matches aren't even that good to be wait for in general so why bother? "The king is evil and needs to be dethroned" stories don't generally feature the main antagonist as the featured star.
