It's a LOLWCW book first and foremost, read it or listen to the audiobook for a laugh. If you want numbers/business autism Nitro's better for that, but it also doesn't tell the full story of what was happening from a booking standpoint, it feels like it's trying to pass the buck in the same way Bitchoff does these days. Ideally read both.

Of course not. Despite having so many typos that I thought Meltzer wrote it, that's a good list of shit from the book. It falls into the trap that all these smark books fall into and that's assuming their view is a popular one. AEW proves Meltzer, Keller, Keith, and any other match reviewer who has ever written a book has no fucking clue what actual fans actually want, instead focusing on nerds who are in it for the matches.

Whats crazy about this kind of stuff is regardless of what WCW did or didn't do its known that WCW was axed purely because the aol time warner people didn't give a single fuck about wrestling. They wanted to pad their pockets. Without Turner there was no one to champion wrestling at all. That was all his effort.
WCW could've been making millions and they would've sold it for parts. There was no WCW after the merger.

Turner had been championing it in his own company before it was even dying. They didn't want it when it was making money. Turner was why it existed and the only person at the corporate level pushing to keep it. Without him there was no one there that wanted it. You have to remember even though wrestling was "hot" in the 90s a lot of people still saw it as garbage for idiots. Even moreso when the NWO/DX stuff started. A lot of bloated projects were kept around that weren't moneymakers because it was "nerd shit" quite literally.

I bought this book around 05 when I was first getting into IWC shit, and I remember it being full of whining about the nWo run ins and "dirty finishes". The nWo and the dirty bullshit was half the fun of WCW. Nobody besides turbo smarks care about clean finishes. And they made Hogan out to be worse than Hitler. I had no idea who Alvarez and even I thought the book was lame as fuck and overly critical. They whined about Russo (who I also didn't know anything about, I never saw much of WCW 2000) and it basically turned me into a Russo fan and made me want to look him up

RD is based (also friends with Russo you retard), WrestleCrap became SJW slowly over time partly as a result of the forum (which then became FAN) whose mods were your typical progressive creeps, partly as a result of him having kids and a job so needing to hire writers for the site and most wrestling writers being millenial soi SJWs. Wrestlecrap was good in 2004-09 but has been shit for a long time. Blade dying killed it completely.

WC was in good fun then because they did not have to pull at straws. It was just a passion project with no profit motive. I really don't blame R.D. for trying but he committed the now classic blunder of trying to monetize what was already free but by then the supply of fresh content was already tapped. Not that WC worthy stuff has not come about over the years but I think part of the charm was the nostalgia.

It was fun to be honest precisely because it was tongue-in-cheek. It did get a little more serious from time to time but it usually had that kind of creative momentum we all crave from wrestling. Thing is, I kept having to write more and more of the show by myself until I realized that it was work. Like, "what am I doing?" It fizzled out not long after I stepped down. I still have mostly positive memories though.

Happens with every efed, i did some on-off a bit but never wanted to be one of the main guys, youd just end up with 2-3 people contributing and everyone else missing deadlines even if they only had 1 segment to write
