Hook/Yuta having a few backstage verbal slapfights is not a storyline
Copeland/Cage is a feud but nobody believes it's the culmination of anything. They're not just going to both continue on in this company, going their separate ways, pretending the other doesn't exist. Will Christian turn face? Will Copeland turn heel? Something has to give.
MJF and Samoa Joe have a definite arc going - this match will be culminative. There's been many misdirections (Wardlow, Devil+Goons, ROH Tag Titles) at this point. The next AEW PPV is March 5th (Stings Retirement), so if MJF wins, he goes another 10 weeks as champion - then isn't even the main event. If Joe wins, do they play up the "Bidding War of 2024" and everything is insider/smark stuff throughout the show? Smarks love it, but will it put asses in the seats?
We can probably expect a good 3-5 AEW debuts before the end of the year (Ziggler, etc), I don't know what else they do here. They're at 7 hours a week of programming, 2 of it with almost no audience, and the other 5 is dropping. Kenny is sick, Bucks are home sulking, Hangman is the only Elitist doing his fucking job
I wish them luck, but it's looking rough. AEW is badly in need of a sub-smark population -- the people who buy the merchandise, tickets, start up non-meta chants, etc. Right now AEW is dominated by Super-Smarks and WWE casuals, and that's not a recipe for growth. Firing Ms. Buck from Marketing/Merchandise is a good start, we'll see how it goes from there.
