it was a walk and brawl match with lots of weapons and shenanigans involved. granted, it was effective, and he did look great, but let's not get too hasty by declaring that he's still got it. right now i'm just glad we're not having his overlong ''epic'' workratefests.
i will say that the finish was brilliant, which he probably had a big part in putting together.

I mean he was still a pretty good wrestler in WWE, his matches just ALWAYS went too long, when they were short and quick people always praised them

Plus the style in WWE is much softer and a scripted which works against a vet like Edge's favor, AEW is a better environment for him

Also it was a stipulation match which is his bread and butter, WWE only let him do 3 his entire 2nd run for some reason

The idea is that you use the vet to establish the belt and put it on younger guys with longevity and potential, not just another vet or you're in a circular loop of reliance on the past. Doesn't help that the other vet in question is a shitter, Christian's doing great work, just for the sake of le copeland vortex.

Joe's at the point where he's still got a couple of years left where he can viably be a top guy and he's a nice name to have in the lineage for a short reign. If he's still champ in 6 months we have a problem unless he's very clearly towards the end of his run.

Ideally but in the case of gayew, all of the younger guys look like complete shitters. Barely any of them even look over 150 pounds. It's like these idiots are in the wrong sport but it's an entire promotion built around it. The only youngish guy I can think of who has some star power is Swerve but it'd still look kinda goofy for him to be world champ when there's bigger stronger looking guys vying for the tnt belt.
