The whole reason I like Finnerjima is because he works every single match like he is fighting for his life. This isn't about who would go over in a match, it is about AJPW completely restructuring as they push older guys out, try to rebuild with a younger roster, and recover some of their lost audience.
Just baiting shit like this is a good way to drive the attendance up. Back in the day Onita built the entire FMW promotion based off of going to a UFW show he didn't have a ticket for, demanding to be let it, and when they wouldn't let him into the show he made a big scene for the media about how UFW was afraid of him, so he was going to make his own promotion that would feature all forms of martial arts in a wrestling environment, thus creating Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling. FMW was white hot for those first few years because Onita was doing wild and crazy shit to constantly keep the media's eyes on him and people discussing what was going to happen next.
I don't give a fuck about AJPW, I am just a mark for Nakajima. But AJPW seems to be going all in the on the finner guy and is willing to do whatever to get his vision of what is pro wrestling across. Even if that means older guys like Takao Omori and Yoshitatsu are being pressured to leave.
