He might want to job to Swerve AFTER Swerve becomes champion (if he does, lol) because under those circumstances Lee would be elevated by the loss. Losing to Swerve before his push begins really does nothing for either man, why throw away a couple weeks worth of main event storytelling for nothing? It's literally the only chance Lee has of getting in the main event scene.
And yeah, he should just do his fucking job. But Rusev doesn't have to, so why should Lee? If Tony reprimands Lee over this then he is showing preferential treatment to a wrestler not of African descent.

Apparently there are a lot of contracts that end on 1/1, I suspect there's a bunch we don't know about.
