Despite being one of the biggest acts in the company and the current IWGP champion, they ended up stiffing him in contract negotiations and the general belief at the time was that he was going to sign with WWE. But then All In happened and that eventually evolved into AEW, Kenny wanted to support The Bucks and so he signed on and passed on WWE's third contract offer. If AEW never came to fruition there's a very good chance Kenny could've debuted at the Rumble, but instead WWE fans eventually got Nia Jax instead. Imagine a match like picrel happening at Mania 35.
