>>12829298The Rock was only good during a relatively short window of 1998 when he was getting over. Everything he did was charismatic and fresh. But after that he just started repeating a small collection of catchphrases, and his idea of charisma was to progressively scream it louder and louder. Compare an original "do you smell what the rock is cooking" to the flanderization version we have now. It's just awful. I know exactly what a Rock promo will be before he ever speaks, and he was only a promo guy, he never really had a great match.
People always act like I'm shitposting, but HHH was unironically a better promo by 2000, "I am the game-uhhhhh" and thirty minute meandering rants and all that notwithstanding. I'm not saying HHH was a good promo, he wasn't, but Rock was just coasting on a few good lines. And Austin obviously blew him out of the water.
