>>12842803>It was worth a shot but they fumbled it bad with the Cole and devil stuff.They fumbled it way before that. They should have taken the belt off of him as soon as they did that awful Four Pillars match where no one came out looking good. After that, they spent months booking him like a comedy midcarder and the AEW Championship was a total after thought. In hindsight, it seemed like Tony's main goal was to give MJF a 1+ year title run, but knew he didn't have anything planned, so the easiest way to get to a year is just completely put the AEW Championship on the backburner.
Once you realize Tony's whole booking style amounts to wrestler + belt = "over," it's obvious why there are 50 different championships in AEW. He acts like just because someone is carrying around a big shiny belt, they're automatically a star.
