AEW always needs to dangle the golden carrot of new women's wrestlers because they aren't good at booking the ones they have. They had NXT's Kiana James and NXT's Fallon Henley. They opted to job those two out on Dark while NXT pushed them and both look like they have long term futures in WWE.
The AEW women's roster also just has a low ceiling and needs overhauled. Kris Statlander has been this top star in waiting for 4 years now and just got surpassed by Julia Hart, who still has a long way to go. Ruby and Saraya suck. Willow's still a botch machine. Skye's improved but she has a low ceiling. Anna Jay got good on the mic only to stop being featured for unknown reasons. People like Red Velvet and Leyla Hirsch will never be more than what they are. Then we have Riho and Shida who come in, get featured like top women's stars then go away for half the year, disrupting everything.
