Ah yes, the usual dronie whining about AEW le killing the wrestling scene because their promotion is an undesirable sloppy shop that no-one wants to go to. Never mind that even before AEW was created they pillaged the wrestling indies and NJPW when they were unopposed. Styles and Nakamura ring a bell? If anything, AEW helped NJPW survive through the pandemic and has bankrolled them financially. On top of that all their wrestlers get to compete at NJPW's PPV's.

AEW has nothing to do with NJPW's current state. It was the previous retarded management that didn't want to do business and the following 2 covid years when NJPW was put on full lockdown and was basically unable to run any shows. If anything, AEW saved NJPW and it is recovering now, but it will take some time to get back to their previous levels.

Those guys know their limits in WWE, they would be midcarders or jobbers with shit pay. With AEW there's a chance at playing in the main event because AEW is a lesser company and Tony Khan is a retard booker who overpays his wrestlers.

There never really was much. They sold out MSG once, as a one-off, but most of their other US shows were poorly attended and even more poorly promoted.

It was one man's mission, really, to try and smash NJPW over in the west. The whole 'American expansion' was an Ohbari thing and the fact that he doubled down on it even after AEW had formed and there was even less room in the market probably did end up costing them domestically.
They really should've kept focusing on Japan.

Since they've gone back to doing so, they've been growing the business slowly but surely at home which is what NJPW needs to do.

I went to all the pre AEW shows, they were all packed houses in smaller venues. mostly like 5000-7000 people after the first LBC convention center one. a lot of these people were gay elite marks riding the elite hype train tbqh. they obviously don't go anymore because aew exists.
