The WWE fan doesn't recognize NJPW as a threat is the difference. The WWE fan only has one joke for NJPW and that's making up names based on Japanese words they know (like Toyota Mitsubishi vs Hiroshima Nagasaki.)

The AEW sentiment is a combo of handicapped trolls and bots.

WWE sucks and we all know it so saying it means nothing. Over 70% of WWE fandom was built around hating Vince's terrible decisions until HHH took the book and put on a show closer to what he wants to watch (which as it turns out is the kind of wrestling Tony Khan wants to watch.)

The fact that aew manages to maintain a foothold where no other company has speaks to how shit wwe has become and how weak it is. Nobody cares about wrestling these days because wwe fucking sucked for decades. wwe is a zombie promotion living off of marks that were fans 20-30 years ago. That’s why it fucking DIES in the ratings whenever it gets off of cable or the geriatrics need to find it on another channel. aew ratings have been more stable than any promotion beforehand specifically because wwe can’t actually kill them.

How many years until TNA fell apart? They had at least 4 good years against WWE too. If anything, AEW is following the same exact pattern to a tee. I know you will bring up Wembley and maybe some of their other bigger shows they had when they first started and be like "well TNA never had that big of an attendance or that many buy rates for a PPV." Its all fucking relative, bro. TNA starts in 2019, it would have the same run AEW did.

It might have, but it didn’t start in 2019. Im saying that you can call aew shit or whatever, but the reason it continues to exist is because WWE has been as shit as it is. TNA was already on a downhill trajectory by aew’s age back then, I believe. But I’m not some historian.
