I guess technically he did win a ratings war with NXT, so that's something, and I can't deny that selling as many tickets as they did at Wembley is a pretty impressive accomplishment. But the main reason he considered it successful was that his fellow autistic wrestling smarks on Twitter were praising AEW. And there was still criticism, but they hated WWE so much that they were willing to forgive and make excuses for AEW's shortcomings. But now Triple H is in charge of WWE, which is what smarks wanted back before AEW existed and he was running NXT. And now there is so much excitement about WWE, and fans don't need an alternative to WWE anymore.
And that's all AEW ever was. An alternative. If Tony had been smart, he wouldn't have taken all these aggressive pot shots at WWE since he started this company. He should've been neutral towards them. He should've said, "WWE does things their way, we do things our way, there's room enough for both of us and I'm just glad there's so much wrestling on TV right now." Instead he had to make it a war. And now he's losing and he knows it.
