No they weren't. Jeff was shoot injured a week before it was even booked a d the cope story that AEW gave to the media was that the plan was to take them out anyway with an angle. The Bucks were added randomly so they could win the belts, there was no other reason for them to be in the match. It was so they could be 2x champs before FTR.

Imagine being Matt and having to carry around your waster brother for the latter half of your life. You find yourself a nice big money contract, get yourself a new gimmick so you can work in to old age, and suddenly this motherfucker decides he wants to go back to the fed knowing full well that you'll be split from him within a year and lowering your stock. You leave and go to a new money mark, you advocate for your brother to come over so you can make a shitload of money...and he decides to get arrested for drink driving. All of a sudden the boss sees you and your brother as damaged commodities, no longer reliable. You can't leave, you can't shit on your brother publically, you've just got to sit there and make do. And to top it all off, your god awful wife (who never liked your brother) divorces you and takes the kids (and probably Senior Benjamin too).
