Hitting 1000 days is a nice milestone, but they could've just had Sami win to get his moment and then have Reigns win it back at wrestlemania. At this point he's been champion for so long that it all would have blurred together anyways. It would have also made the rest of this year a lot more exciting PPV's like summerslam and crown jewel would have had a real chance of Reigns losing.
