Punk (like Hangman, Cabana and most supposedly leftwing wrestlers) is a thin-skinned fake-principled establishment anti-establishment sociopath very good at making people think he's "one of them", Jericho is a more old school backstage politicker less concerned with pretending to be one of the fans because he likes to larp as a rockstar. Punk took exception to Jericho's drunken potshot so is using the dirty reputational warfare tricks he learned from his fallout with Cabana to fuck Jericho over.
Absolutely nobody thought Chris was a bad guy until 2016, zero rumours of misconduct til Kylie quit AEW (started by unreliable sources), people are literally just jumping on it because of Punk cultism, console war tribalism or political tribalism. If Jericho was a Bernie or Biden stan half the people caring wouldn't care, if he hadn't pissed off Punk none of this would have happened. The worst he's been accused of before is having an ego and politicking, literally every wrestler of his era who made it above midcard did both.
