If AEW and WWE were on the same channel, it would create brand confusion. People would start to think AEW is somehow connected to WWE. Not a good idea.
The key is appeasing stock holders then Amazon is the way to go. It just would be pretty disastrous for audiences who can’t afford that and I think it wouldn’t work.
The only streaming service worth pursuing is Netflix

You don’t have to worry about brand confusion because just like every time WWE has moved their show to a channel with another wrestling show they’ll get exclusivity rights. Trevor here, like every AEW fan, only started watching wrestling about 6 years ago so he’s not aware of that. But that’s what’s going to happen, and as we already know because Tony the Virgin has all but outright told us, AEW has no other suitors due to their bad ratings. Trevor and Ojama will now dump their folders to cope with this but sadly they have no counter arguments that hold any weight. It’s over.

TBF, the hockey audience is coveted for their advertising potential. Hockey fans tend to have more money than the average fan of any other sport. So it might get lower ratings, but advertisers know they get their money's worth when they buy ad time.

If Smackdown wasn't on traditional cable I could see it being a possible problem not having TV exposure. But with SD on USA, Raw could branch out to streaming especially if they are getting major cash for it.

It very similar to the WWF expansion of the mid 80s, they had Superstars/Challenge on more traditional syndicated TV and then went hard into a partnership with cable USA Network with Primetime and All-America

Streaming sites are super niche and Amazon is third/fourth tier streaming at that. Not everyone has $15 a month they can waste on streaming, especially in this failing economy we are in combined with high speed internet being spotty in a lot of areas still.

Not to mention that if Raw went to Amazon Prime, it would cause the apocalypse internally in the WWE since Raw would instantly become a C/D-List show that none of the big names want to work and everyone would want to be on Smackdown instead. And no way in hell would Bezos allow that, let alone the end of brand split since Bezos would demand Reigns, Rhodes, Punk, Orton, all of the top stars be exclusive to Raw and barred from appearing on SD.

The only way that moving Raw to Smackdown would work is if Bezos gave TKO several billions of dollars, overpaying for Raw to the extreme to compensate TKO killing WWE as a company, by moving it to Amazon.

You're still thinking like someone stuck in the early 00s. Most 60+ year olds have smartphones by now and most everyone has a Smart TV at home with Amazon and Netflix apps.

Spotty internet doesn't matter, you pause and then catch up. If anything briadcast-cable is worse because a glitch means missing 5, 10, 20 seconds and even with DVR enabled, you can't just rewind.

You're overthinking the rest. Tens of millions of US homes already have Amazon Prime, including a big chunk of the WWE audience, one would presume. I imagine if WWE signups weren't going well, they could do an Amazon Prime special promo with WWE promo code that WWE agrees to pay out (reducing by $1 or 10% or whatever their splits are, based on watch time)

The idea a $13 billion company can't figure all of this stuff out, let's not be retarded here.

Raw won't need to be 3 hours, but that depends on how WWE wants to cater to the fans. They could lower to 2 1/2 and bookend some dark matches. Or leave it at 3, lower the amount of ad breaks, and do a more action-packed 3 hours. Depends on how much revenue they want.

Many streaming services are moving to a model with ad-supported lower tiers and minimal/zero-ad premium tiers. Amazon would likely offer more money for more ads, but if WWE could close the gap with LED ads, promotional spots, product placement, etc, then it all balances out

An anon mentioned it earlier and I agree, Netflix is the better bet. Netflix need more live programming to offset their woke garbage movie losses, Amazon has plenty of other stuff they're working with (cloud, logistics, etc)

It is but WWE has been on cable a long, long time. They've had a WWE network/Peacock thing for a long time. Do you read every single page of your privacy policies before saying yes? Probably not. Most people don't. But if you did click Yes, there's a good chance WWE knows your watch patterns across all 3 of their shows plus Peacock

Raw will likely have the most loyal audience among boomers. Same Monday night for decades. Smart TVs cost less because they're subsidized by Netflix, Google, etc. Theyre all selling data, they know how stuff works. WWE likely has a very accurate figure of what percentage of their audience has a Smart TV -- put simply, anyone receiving USA in 720p or higher you almost always know has one.

And blah blah and so on, the point is, once adoption is above a certain number, then if Netflix/Amazon offer the money, you take it. Very few people these days (Satellite, VERY rural) have TV but no fast internet, but even those Satellite or Cable TV are capable of having Amazon On-Demand. Live would be trickier but VOD, absolutely.

Probably but that's because Cable TV is mostly Hollyweird/celeb/tranny bullshit and costs like $70/mo minimum, on top of regular internet. It makes sense that most people would keep Internet over TV

If you, the average boomer, could add back your favorite show (plus unlimited free shipping, other shows, etc) for $10-15/mo, it's probably worth it. Me, I went from watching lots of TV, to watching WWE plus News, to watching WWE only, to cancelling cable

If Raw stays on USA it'll be such a waste. It would still pay well, but for the purposes of growing the product worldwide. Amazon/Netflix are the way to go. Do you think USA will offer 10 different announce teams and 20 different subtitle languages any time soon? They can't, but Streaming can.
