Rumbles have become stereotyped and are worse off for it. The last rumble had the women come down to 1 and 2 and the men 1 and 30 at the end. Everyone assumes 30 has to be some badass favorite and 1/2 have to be iron men who go all the way to the end.

In 2001, the shows were written well enough to know everything had to be entertaining from start to finish. No one cared who entered at 30 because there was so much other shit going on to talk about.

Now, in 2024, so much of this shit is written so flat and obvious that the only unexpected pop during the rumbles are surprises --everyone knows to hope for-- at number 30
