You mention wrestling to anyone who has no interest and they say "you mean WWE?". Then they either say they liked it as a kid or that it's fake and gay.
If you show them something like TNA or AEW they will think it's wwe and then conclude that it's even worse than wwe. And right now that would be true.
I've made people watch every wrestling show that's come around in my lifetime and people get annoyed by aew. Back in like 2007 I got a room of people to watch TNA on TV at a house party and they were mildly entertained, well like maybe 4 of them were.
AEW looks like a bad copy of WWE because that's what they present themselves as. They won't stand out as anything else to anyone outside of their obsessed fanbase unless they fix their brand image.
But yeah, you think the USA numbers for aew are bad you should see how completely unknown they are in Europe. I've gone to indy shows and talked to the autistic marks and they literally don't know what aew is.
