How would WCW have existed if Hogan and Vince weren’t responsible for making wrestling more mainstream? Jim Crockett Promotions would have just been themselves still, Ted Turner wouldn’t have tried to compete with the WWF if they weren’t around.
also AJPW would have lost to literally anyone who knew how to make a wrestling show that didn’t look like it was from the 70s

Hulkamania wasn’t a wrestling boom. It actually caused a huge decline in the industry. Every major city had their territorial equivalent of wrestlemania multiple times a year. With Hulkamania guys had to run up and down the whole country cause nobody wanted to see them more than once a year. There was nothing more disappointing to wrestling fans, arenas and local businesses than when wwf took over tv in your region.
But that’s capitalism. The inferior product takes over cause some gay guy can lose money taking over the market.
