Alvarez is kind of the problem for most of the shows he produces.
Dave is at his comfiest when someone dies and he's able to talk history. That's why on Lapsed Fan, he actually comes off clear and knowledgeable.
Shit, if you listen to old Observers, you can hear how much better it is when Dave is in charge of running things and Alvarez is adding his little points. Dave doesn't go on too long because he knows they have shit to get to and Alvarez has to make a few points, and the show sounds smoother.
It's weird that they made the change. Yeah, Alvarez has the equipment, but he's pretty bad at keeping things going despite doing this shit for like his whole adult life.
