The problem is he's too much of a massive drama nerd for that to work because he complicates shit too much. Even as a heel half the time it's hokey long winded dribble but occasionally he would find a face that works the angle seriously, so the hokey shit was him being annoying as fuck while whatever face was like "I'm going to fucking kill you, I'm not joking I'm going to cave your skull in you cunt" and that worked opposed to him. If you want to see the absolute worst of his tendencies that handicap match he was in is the perfect example.
The issue is he's seen as this "generational" talent by all these old fucks while the reality is he has zero range because he can't portray anything with sincerity or believability so he's stuck as a one note heel. A really good one note heel, a one note heel you can put in world title feuds, but if he ever gets another belt whether it's AEW or WWE it has to be a short reign, he has no legs.
